How Do Braces Work?
Braces use steady, gentle pressure to gradually move teeth into the client’s desired position; all braces are based on this simple principle.
The process is slow and steady and once the client has grown accustomed to their braces, they shouldn’t feel any discomfort.
Will braces hurt?
Some patients do report some discomfort for the first few days after the braces are fitted.
This usually goes away once the client gets used to the braces.
Certain patients do mention an ache in their jaw or minor irritation against their cheeks or lips.
This discomfort can often be treated with over the counter pain medications.
To help with this adjustment period we recommend clients take a little bit of extra time with food and avoid any activity that could potentially damage their braces.
And of course please do get in contact with Pearl Treatment Centres if the pain is beyond mild.

Are Braces Right For Me?
Braces are suitable for correcting:
Teeth are spaced too far apart
Crowding of the upper/lower front teeth
Issues with teeth positioning due to childhood thumb sucking
The above is by no means a complete list and we urge patients to get in contact with us to discuss how braces can help with any tooth problems or aesthetic concerns.

How Long Will I Have to Wear Braces?
Every mouth is different and so too is the necessary length of an orthodontic treatment.
It’s important to stick closely to the orthodontists routine to ensure the treatment plan stays on track
Do I Need to Change my Diet?
Removable tray braces and fixed braces have different requirements.
The major advantage of removable braces is clients are free to enjoy all the foods they ate before being fitted with braces.
Fixed braces are susceptible to damage from sticky or chewy foods and thus should be avoided.
Clients should also keep in mind that they will not be able to floss properly with fixed braces. With this in mind, it may be wise to avoid foods like nuts and popcorn.
